Does this mean the circuit breaker
offers no protection?
No. This issue affects only the arc fault detection capability of the
circuit breaker. The circuit breaker will continue to function as a regular
breaker providing short circuit and overload protection for the circuit.
However, the low level arc fault protection is an import safety feature
which may become inoperable. Return
to top of page.
How can I accurately
identify these circuit breakers?
The only way to identify these circuit breakers is by the date code stamped
in red on the label on the load end of the circuit breaker. Return
to top of page.
What indicates
that the product I have received is functioning properly?
It will be marked with the “KN” (or October) date code and
will be labeled with a blue sticker, on the packaging. (Retail products
will be labeled on the outer carton and on the clamshell.) In addition,
breakers that carry a date code before CN are in compliance (AN, BN and
any date codes ending in “L” or “M”). Return
to top of page.
